As part of the international project Open Dialogue TM , Urgent Universal and the Ukrainian Agency for Strategic Development of White Church, students from the "Bilotserkiv Collegium" lyceum and Caruso Middle School in Chicago participated in a final online meeting on May 22, 2024. This meeting, which united youth from two continents, was the culmination of the academic year, centered around the theme of summer vacation.
We recognize Caruso Middle School for their dedication and extended motivation to run two projects with two different schools from two different countries and cultures . The certificate of excellence had been awarded to Jennifer Gold and Eliza Cadkin for their leadership and commitment within the program.
Congratulations to both Noah Robins and Jesse Ruiter for achieving the "Going Extra Mile Award 2023-2024". These two gentleman have shown exceptional commitment to fostering teamwork and support within the Open Dialogue TM program and beyond displaying the core values that Urgent stands for.
Additionally, the head of Caruso Middle School is shown being awarded the horse shoe for sharing and aligning with the goals of Open Dialogue TM .
During the event, students from both countries shared their summer plans, discussing traditions, customs, and favorite leisure activities.
Ukrainian students expressed their excitement about vacations at the sea, trips to the Carpathians, and participation in summer camps where they engage in sports, creative activities, and excursions. They also talked about family picnics, mountain hikes, and folk crafts, and extended their gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for enabling these opportunities.
American students, on their part, shared their plans for summer holidays, including trips to national parks, youth camps, and numerous sports activities. They also spoke about their experiences at various summer festivals and fairs in Chicago, as well as their involvement in summer courses and volunteer programs.
The meeting was filled with laughter, jokes, and warm words of support. Students exchanged advice on useful and interesting pastimes, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other's cultures. Such interactions help students develop tolerance and openness to new cultures.
The meeting left a lasting impression on all participants, who expressed hope for future interactions. These meetings not only broaden horizons but also inspire new achievements and discoveries.
This event showcased the commitment and dedication that students have for displaying exemplary behavior and tolerance to cultures they are not familiar with. We look forward to hosting future events with these two districts!
